Bulawayo – Two young men from Bulawayo’s Nketa Township, have ventured into Music in an aim to cushion themselves from the wrath of Zimbabwe’s growing poverty and unemployment. Writes Chrispen Tabvura

After completing their secondary education, and without funding to proceed to tertiary education, Gift Dube and Kelvin Natembe decided to enter the musical world by forming a Hip-hop stable called Hallatainment.

The two young guys Gift aged 20 and with his stage name as ‘Easy K’ and Kelvin aged 19, known as ‘Saintghetto’ are already making waves by performing at local functions and events. Hallatainment is aiming high this year, after the duo recorded their debut three tracks.

The sizzling hits are, my life, all I do is rock and Pour some wine all being party songs with entertainment flavours, mainly for the all generations.

“I am glad that we are moving forward and not looking back as upcoming musicians. We started off slowly because we don’t have any funding,” said Kelvin. “I hope one day we will be somewhere performing to a full house of musical fans,” added Gift.

The two also who told Choice Magazine that they have realised the tough times ahead of them if they waited for employment are already shooting a video for their single ‘pour some wine’, which is near completion.

“This is our only hope of employment, as our country is chaining out thousands of graduates from Universities, but without developing the dead industries,” they concurred.

Zimbabwe’s industry has been ailing for more than three decades, forcing most of young people to rely on vending or turning to menial jobs for survival, as the situation is forcing a dog eat dog scenario.
